Rules and Guidelines

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

We want the Canopy to be an open and welcoming place for all. To this end:

Please tag triggers like gore, blood, death, etc. in your art and writing. This includes any vivid depictions of animal death.

Please do not post sexual content publicly. What you do in private is your own business, but please do not post it for points or in the group/Discord/etc.

Plots involving non-consensual sex, incest, slavery, or sexual abuse are 100% forbidden. This is not the shop for that kind of content. Please respect our wishes on this. Romances are A-OK!

This shop is LGBTQ+ friendly. Full stop, no exceptions, both IC and OOC. That includes the T for trans. This shop is also open to people of all backgrounds and walks of life, and bigotry and intolerance will be met by a swift ban on further participation in the community.

Please keep public chatter in the Discord community-appropriate and do not discuss heavy topics including personal grief, mental health (specifics; you’re welcome to say you have anxiety or something but please do not make the conversation about it), politics, world events, etc. This is not because we don’t take sides--we absolutely do--but because the Canopy was specifically devised as a fun escapist place for Rejam to play and she wants to keep it that way for everyone. Further Discord rules are available upon joining.

This shop is extremely lax and forgiving in terms of points and questing. We ask you politely and earnestly to please treat this as a game with rules and goals, and to set goals with the thought of being proud when you achieve them rather than rushing through them as fast as possible. We won't actively stop you from minmaxing unless you're blatantly cheating, but we do ask you to respect the spirit of the game. Thank you for being cool!

We do not believe in “stealing ideas” unless it truly is a blatant act of theft. We believe that in any kind of restricted game environment there will be some overlap, and that this is especially true in a game with a set color palette and marking rules like the Canopy. Please do not get upset if someone ends up with a character relatively similar to yours unless you think there has been a true case of theft, in which case feel free to note the group. We do not believe in “claiming” ideas either, so please do not post Flights of Fancy quests and attempt to use them to justify your ownership of a concept unless, again, legitimate theft has occurred. Please assume the best of people’s intentions when it comes to designs. Art theft is not tolerated and should be reported by group note, but this, again, applies only to tracing or other blatant theft. Style imitation is not theft.

SALES AND TRADING

Canopians are freely tradeable between members. Points and upgrades come with the Canopian they are applied to, permanently. You cannot trade off a Canopian but "keep" the points you've spent on it. Canopians can be sold for site currency/points on sites which allow this transaction but we will not intervene to ensure the trade is completed properly, so please trade at your own risk.

Canopians cannot be "separated" from pets/fauna that belong to them.

Canopians that were purchased for real money can be sold for real money without any limits placed thereupon. Canopians that were earned via points, starter Canopians, Canopians won in free contests, and any other Canopian obtained without a monetary purchase cannot be resold for money.

We will not intervene in ownership disputes except for in the cases of original sales/purchases from staff and guest artists. Please log all sales and transfers in a public place on BOTH ends of the transaction (buyer/seller and both trading parties) to protect yourselves.
