Neither intelligent nor loyal, the gecko is primarily kept due to sheer curiosity about its habits and the entertainment value of watching it hunt. Some have been bred in quite attractive colors and patterns, however, and these can be popular pets for Canopians with a strong sense of aesthetics.

Songbirds can be taught a few simple words, although they do not truly speak. They can also be trained to repeat a few simple melodies. While they are more friendly with one another than Canopians, they can nonetheless be affectionate companions if properly raised, in addition to being attractive and entertaining.

Although they were originally bred for fiber, the process of domesticating silksquirrels yielded an animal equal parts helpless and friendly. Despite their decided lack of good sense, they are sweet and loyal, and make good companions for those willing to invest in the upkeep of their fur. Mostly, however, they are kept in herds by silksquirrel farmers, who turn their valuable fur into all manner of textiles.

Ferocious, cunning, and intelligent, statta are nonetheless naturally animals that roam in small packs, and their domestication has left in them the urge to bond closely with their owners. They generally have silky smooth fur, but rough-coated and wire-coated versions do exist. They are highly prized companion animals, even among those Canopians who do not hunt.
